"We’ve been customers of this office for over 10 years and, up until recently, had always stayed loyal despite higher premiums because we felt taken care of. Unfortunately, our most recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. Last April, our daughter turned 16. In May, the office contacted us to ask if she was a licensed driver. At that time, she had not yet passed her test, and I clearly stated I would notify them once she did. In July, we followed through and contacted the office to add full coverage to her pickup and list her as the primary driver. We received updated insurance cards, and our premium increased...which we reasonably understood to mean everything had been properly processed. Fast forward to February: our daughter hit a deer, and the truck was deemed a total loss at $14,500. After initially moving forward with the claim, we were then told it would not be covered because she was “not listed as a primary driver.” This makes no sense. We explicitly contacted the office to add her, accepted the higher premium, and were issued updated insurance cards. If we were trying to avoid paying for proper coverage, why would we have reported that she was the driver in the accident? This appears to be a clerical error on their end, yet we are the ones being held responsible. After over a decade of loyalty, this situation has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Comment to Response....we DID state that she would be the driver!!"

"We’re very sorry to hear how upsetting this situation has been, especially after so many years with our office. We understand why this experience would feel frustrating. To provide some context, our agency relies on the information shared with us at the time of quoting and policy changes. In prior conversations, we had asked about any youthful drivers in the household and were advised there were none. When the vehicle was later added to the policy, it was not indicated that your daughter would be the primary driver. Because driver information directly impacts coverage and underwriting decisions, discrepancies can affect how a claim is ultimately handled by the insurance carrier. Our priority remains ensuring that everything is handled thoroughly and appropriately, and that you are supported throughout."

"Renae Ford and staff (Katy) at State Farm Insurance are the insurance experts in Fargo, ND. When purchasing insurance, they guide the selection of a solid and well-priced policy. When a claim is made on the policy, they get the claim processed quickly. State Farm has insured us foe over 40 years. They have done a good job."

"Since I can not reply to your reply I have to erase my initial comment to reply. Went in to find out how our rates would be affected when we add our 16 year old to insurance. Was told by Katy that she could not give me a quote because rates might change. My confusion was that it’s a quote nothing more. You say your system doesn’t give quotes months in advance. I wasn’t asking for a quote months in advance. I was asking for State Farm to give me a quote for now as if my son was licensed now, so I could see how much my family would need to plan to spend. Even if the rates etc could change up or down it would still offer something to help my family not try to hide the cost from me. It’s only a quote and nothing more. This is shady no different then when you go shopping and no prices are available for consumer to decide if it’s worth buying. Not until you get it rung up do you realize it’s expensive. Simple customer service is all I was asking for. Who does anyone go to for something like this? It’s no different when car shopping you go see what the prices are. I shouldn’t have to go through this unless this location wasn’t concerned about customer service. It’s always fine until it happens to you then everyone wants to say I don’t have problems but you could which is bad for a business that bases its performance and profits off customer service. I didn’t think I was being unreasonable for my request a simple idea is all I was asking for. She laughed at me like she didn’t care. Treated me like a no body and that my business was nothing to her. I may have over reacted a bit but shock was more how I felt."

"State Farm is a SCAM. *State Farm is facing serious scrutiny, including lawsuits alleging algorithmic bias in claims processing, which critics claim unfairly targets minority policyholders. Additionally, reports from early 2025 indicated the company was experiencing financial distress, raising concerns about its operations. They have also been associated with scams, specifically fake "free car insurance" advertisements, which they deny.* This process has felt rushed, impersonal, and dismissive of my concerns. I expected clearer communication, transparency in valuation, and more flexibility in discussing my options. I strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about total loss procedures, valuation methods, and owner-retention options before committing to coverage with this company. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with State Farm following a serious motorcycle accident involving one of their insured drivers. Their client ADMITTED FAULT. As a result of this crash, I sustained significant injuries, including a severe right leg fracture, ACL reconstruction and meniscus removal on my right knee, a concussion, and additional injuries to my arm, hand, and right side. This has been a physically and emotionally exhausting experience. Despite the severity of the accident and my injuries, my interaction with State Farm regarding my motorcycle claim has felt rushed and dismissive. After speaking with a representative (Ruben), I was informed that my motorcycle is being declared a total loss. I am currently waiting on written confirmation and documentation, which I was told would arrive within 24 hours. I was also told they want the bike removed from the repair shop before 3/7 to avoid additional storage fees. Additionally, the valuation being presented appears lower than fair market value, and I was given the impression that retaining my motorcycle may not be an option. As a claimant navigating serious medical recovery, this approach feels impersonal and overly aggressive. During an already traumatic time, I expected clearer communication, transparency in valuation, and a more supportive claims process. I strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about total loss procedures, valuation methods, injury claim handling, and owner-retention options before proceeding with a claim. Or proceeding with this company for coverage - period. Avoid at all costs."
